Deep Space 9 was a Federation starbase during the 24th century. During the occupation of Bajor it was built by Cardassians and placed in orbit of Bajor and was the center of the occupation under the name Terok Nor. After the Cardassian withdrawal Starfleet took over the station, renamed it Deep Space 9, and moved it to the entrance of the Bajoran wormhole upon its discovery.
