The Los Angeles Police Department or the LAPD is the police department of the city of Los Angeles. It has been seen in science fiction films such as Blade Runner and Predator 2. In science fiction and film in general, they are often represented because of the filming constraints of Hollywood.

Rick Deckard in 2019
Rick Deckard was a blade runner who worked for the LAPD in the original Blade Runner. In 2019, he was assigned to "retire" or kill four replicants. He would go on to father a daughter with a replicant named Rachel and retire in Las Vegas in time before Blade Runner 2049.
Michael R. "Mike" Harrigan was an officer during the 1997 gang wars that occurred in Predator 2. He was respected by the predators he encountered. In the Predator expanded universe, he retired in Rio de Janeiro and once again encounter predators.

Michael Harrington could have been a part of New York's police department instead of the LAPD as the original Predator 2 script was set in New York City.
