A Jedi was a member of the Jedi Order, who would study the Force and use the powers they learned about to protect the Galactic Republic and against the Sith. Though they were nearly wiped out at the end of the Clone Wars, the Jedi would survive due to the efforts of Luke Skywalker in forming the New Jedi Order.
